About The Innovators Club
A Philadelphia and NJ (Princeton, Bridgewater and Lehigh Valley, PA) based networking and social environment for entrepreneurial people engaged in internet businesses, shaping internet strategies, and moving into web 2.0 and mobile communications. Hear from 'doer/experts' in the industry, present your current business ideas, seek advice and council from peers and network to find “new connections” who “get it” in the internet space.
The Innovators Club held another successful and informative session at the Great American Pub in Conshohocken, PA on 01/26/2010.
The topic: Enterprise 2.0, Implementing Social Media and Social Networking Within and Throughout the Enterprise.
Jim Worth, IT Director for Merck Research Labs, shared his insights about how enterprises are utilizing social media approaches within and beyond their four walls. Jim’s presentation provided insight on The Social Media Landscape – how social media is defined, what social software tools are being leveraged, generational shifts in labor force composition – today and projected. How large corporations are exploiting microblogging, wikis, blogs, profiles, communities and other user generated content. Some technologies making headway. We learned about offerings from Jive, Socialcast, NewsGator, Sharepoint, Yammer and more.
Clearly, large corporations are making key investments in E20 as part of their overall communications strategy. Jim is a leader and ’internal evangelist’ shaping how best to leverage these new tools in and out of the corporate landscape. Opportunities from new and emerging technologies, and project management will stem from adoptive initiatives moving forward. Jim’s presentation encapsulated these major points and areas of focus for our audience. We can learn a lot from our kids and emerging consumer trends – Social media means business. Social Media / Networking can transfer very well to the Enterprise to enable “game changing” collaboration. There are opportunities for all. The enthusiasm was high as Jim’s straightforward outline registered with the audience that E20 is poised to gain real traction in the marketplace.
The Innovators Club (IC) would like to extend a BIG Thank you to Jim Worth and Merck for providing us with this valuable view over the exciting landscape of E20 and beyond.
The IC would also like to thank our attendees for bringing such insightful questions and dialogue as to what E20 is and where it is going. We sincerely hope you enjoyed your time with us, made new connections and found the presentation of high value. Jim has posted several links on his site. Please click below to reference…
